listen and say nothing: a letter response.

Dear Friend:

I hope you've been well. I got your most recent letter, and thank you for that. You shared your concern about how I've not been myself lately, and you were right because a lot has been going on in my life.

The funny thing is, I'm not even sure I know how to talk about it. Also, a few times, I feel like I'm blowing everything out of proportion, so I just choose to keep it all to myself. But today, I really want to talk, which is why I'm reaching out. do you still wanna talk? let me know if yes and when.

Also, this is gonna come off weird, but I really wanna say it, so here it is. We've had serious conversations before, so I'm not worried about being vulnerable with you. However, I wanted you to know that you don't have to say anything in response to my problems. I know that many times when a person pours their heart out, we feel somewhat obligated to say something in return, but sometimes, there's just nothing to say. Sometimes, we can't even comprehend or relate to their pain/hurt, and that's okay. So, if you find yourself in that position during our conversation, don't feel pressured to say anything. You can just listen and say nothing.

Also, I know that this kinda seems like it's gonna be about me, but I am aware that we're all humans, and we all have our own problems. So if anything I say is a trigger for you or if at any point you feel like maybe we've talked enough for the day, please let me know. We'll call it a day, and it won't hurt my feelings. I really appreciate you.

With Love,

Your Friend
