A new beginning can be many things: a change of scenery, class, job, friends, or style, etc. There are times when new beginnings are inevitable, but other times, we really need them, so we willingly choose them so that we get a chance to be someone new, learn new things, challenge ourselves, and explore our untapped potential, to say the least.
But there is something that frequently comes with new beginnings, which can be scary for some of us, and that is 'being a beginner.' Every one of us is (extremely or perhaps mildly) good at something. A subject may be, a job, a game, or a hobby, and that tends to feel good. But there are or will be times when a new beginning will necessitate being a beginner at something for some time. This can be very uncomfortable and humbling especially if you're used to being the best. I wish I had some tips to share with you on how to deal with such situations, but I don't. All I know though is that such feelings are normal.
So, I don't know if you've had that moment yet, but in life, we all have a moment when we realize that we're not invincible. We can't be good at everything. We can't remember all the details. We can't understand everything. So, we have to humble ourselves and learn. Sometimes, it's learning from someone younger than us, someone from a different socio-economic background, someone with different beliefs or interests, or perhaps just someone we never would have thought we would ever cross paths with.
All I'm saying is, new beginnings are great, but they can be scary and discouraging too especially when there are too many unprecedented and challenging things involved. However, don't let this scare you from taking on new adventures because they may be well worth it. And yes, the 'may be' was intentional because, the truth is, new adventures don't always turn out great, so hope for the best but also be realistic.
