is He still beautiful?

when grief and sorrow strike

when my soul is weary

and everything seems to have lost its color

is He still beautiful?

when i can’t seem to stand

when i don’t understand

and the silence is deafening

is He still faithful?

when my heart is heavy

when sleep escapes me

but somehow, i can’t stay awake either

is He still merciful?

when the songs aren’t flowing as they used to

when the miracles seem to have run dry

and all i'm hanging on is a thread of His garment

is He still victorious?

it may not feel like it, but I know

the blessing and the breaking

and everything in between

nothing changes who He is

in the valley just as on the mountaintop

He still is the God who was, is, and is to come

beautiful and faithful 

merciful and victorious

He still is goodness personified 

the Light that shines in the darkness

the One that can't be overcome by darkness 

how can He ever not be beautiful?
